SCOOBY-DOO! TEAM-UP #43     DC COMICS

While Fisch, Brizuela, and the rest of the folks at DC hit the fanboy right where it counts yet again, this time their is some extra weirdness that makes one think. You see technically speaking, both the original Doom Patrol and Scooby Doo did exist during the late 1960’s so this crossover could have occurred. And the pairing of the two groups is a great bit of innocent nostalgia. However, then the creative genius’s of this title go out on a limb and thrown in some of the future Doom Patrol members from the later series written by Grant Morrison. Seeing more innocent 60’s versions of Crazy Jane and Flex Mentallo, shows that the crew here know what they are doing, it just adds an extra level of weirdness.  I give it a 9 out of 10 Grahams.

BETTIE PAGE HALLOWEEN SPECIAL #1     DYNAMITE ENTERTAINMENT

Halloween Hijinks with everybody’s favorite pin up queen. The stories presented here are inventive, fun, and if it were not for a few of Bettie’s outfits, good for the whole family. Not full blown horror but scary in a fun way. Worth the time and effort. I give it an 8 out of 10 Grahams.

MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000 #2      DARK HORSE COMICS

Not bad for a rather awkward general premise. And while we can all admit to a love of the tv show, its this odd take to make it into a readable comic. Fun story with the characterizations being spot on, the book still feels a bit awkward to read. That awkwardness isn’t going to stop me from enjoying some adventures with the MST3 gang. I give it a 7 out of 10 Grahams.
