VISITATIONS #4 FROM THE CREATIVE MIND OF SCOTT LARSON
While visiting with Scott himself at the Graham Crackers Comics in Chicago be sure to quiz him about issue #4 of his ongoing series Visitations. Scott was kind enough to forward a computer version of the comic to me for review and I’m really glad he did. Scott’s ability to slide in between art styles provides the reader with an incredible pallet to stun the eyes. The first few pages start off in classic Golden Age style looking much like a page of a Swing Session story. He goes so far as to visually age the pages giving them that tanned Golden Age color. Then with a turn of the page we enter into the closest thing to an Alex Ross page as anyone is ever going to get! And then into a distinct DC Vertigo painted section. The story is sound and good (no spoilers here) but Larson takes it that one step further. In a fit of true genius, he has created a taped radio program that continues and adds to the story. I wonder if now that he can actually review issue #4, if he realizes that his efforts have definitely lead the title in a new and exciting direction in style? This one gets a 9 out of 10 Grahams so be sure to swing by Saturday and say hi.
