CAPTAIN CANUCK #1     CHAPTERHOUSE PUBLISHING

Chapterhouse does an amazing job of reviewing the history of Captain Canuck and his universe. From redacted files delving into the past through action scenes revealing the future storyline. Chapterhouse makes full use of this Free Comic Book Day title to spotlight Richard Comely’s famous character. I give it a 10 out of 10 Grahams.

DRAGONFLY & DRAGONFLYMAN     AHOY COMICS

The heroes and villains of the Wrong Earth title treat us to a tales prior to the big warp switch. What is the mystery behind the Chief’s odd behavior? Who is the Soundmaster? And who or what did Dragonfly lock in his Chief’s closet? This Free Comic Book Day title highlights the best parts of the Wrong Earth title. Then throw in a little Bronze Age Boogie and a cute little look at the life of Edgar Allen Poe round out this choice. I give it a 9 out of 10 Grahams.

GILBERT     PAPERCUTZ PUBLISHING

Art Baltazar is back and so is the mighty merman, Gilbert! The starting of a new storyline with Gilbert and his pals. And this new title just reminds us why artist Art Baltazar is the king of kids comics. A wonderful introduction to Art’s new book. I give it a 9 out of 10 Grahams.

HOPE      SOURCE POINT PRESS

A new introduction to one of Dirk Manning’s newest title. An interesting look at the life of a person with super powers. Manning’s story however has a brutal streak of realism that does raise blood pressures and paranoia in the reader. This one pushes all the reader’s buttons. I give it an 8 out of 10 Grahams.

FUNNY PAGES      TREASURY OF BRITISH COMICS

The weird and wonderful comics from across the seas! Part Mad Magazine, part mini comic strips, these are amusing and unique examples of humor. With characters like Sweeny Toddler and Deadly Hedley Vampire Detective, this book make an excellent presentation of comics we are not used to seeing. I give it a 9 out of 10 Grahams.
