RICK AND MORTY #52 ONI PRESS
In a classic rendition of a televised episode, Marty is left on his own without Rick. This is a wonderful look at the character of Morty and what makes him tick. Not having to take a backseat to Rick, Morty actually does all right for himself. On the verge of breaking out of his shell, Rick returns and ruins everything. But as always its a good thing because Morty’s naive outlook on life is moments away from being crushed. The philosophical question becomes is Morty’s positive outlook warping the world around him to be a better place and it’s Rick’s crappy outlook that brings out the worst in the universe? Think about that one! I give it a 9 out of 10 Grahams.
DISNEY FROZEN HERO WITHIN #2 DARK HORSE COMICS
This story could be the basis for a movie. With epic flashbacks and a heart-feld sentament, the gang splits up to find the missing Hedda. The mystery quickly reveals a life lesson and some hidden secrets. And when you think about it, isn’t that what Disney movies do? And the art provided by Kawaii Creative Studios is wonderful. So … do you want to build a snowman? I give it an 8 out of 10 Grahams.
EXCITING COMICS #3 ANTARCTIC PRESS
Still amazed that an anthology book is on the stands and I couldn’t be happier. And all our old favorites are back. The Blackjaq installment introduces us to the newly revamped Ghost. And the rest of the issue seems to be acting as a sort of Showcase comics for upcoming features. The Crimson Scorpion is back with the introduction of a new villain. And we get a quick two-pager of the revamped Mary Ma…I mean…Miracle! And while the appearance is brief, it a perfect short story. The rest of the book is turned over to Antarctic Press’s upcoming title B.A.D.A.S.S. And while we get a cover featuring the updated version of Charles Biro’s Crimebuster. It’s just a shame she didn’t get any time on the inside of the book. Lets hope she gets some quality time in issue #4 which also promises the return of the Black Terror. This title reminds us of what comics used to be. This one gets a 10 out of 10 Grahams.
