METAL MEN #1     DC COMICS

Finally! Somebody gets it and from an unlikely source on top of everything else. Including a certain “Nameless” cameo, the long and sorted history of the Metal Men as seen through the eyes of Will Magnus. With flashbacks and the hard truth of these characters on public display, this mini-series many answer a question that I have had since literally day one of their creation … how were the Metal Men able to form into all those shapes and items when they were robots and had moving parts inside of them? I give it a 10 out of 10 Grahams.

JUSTICE LEAGUE #34     DC COMICS

It’s really Bruno Redondo and Howard Porter’s art that gives this issue the bump up the story needed. If you are a big fan of multi-level 1/2 page images, this one’s a keeper. And some of the dialog between the JSA, the JLA, and Kamandi will bring a smile to your face. But the truth is that this is the crushing finally of everyone’s plans. Hawkgirl totally screws this one up but that was being telegraphed issues ago. Even weird looking Luthor gets depressed in this one. The question that this issue leaves us with is Will DC deliver on their promises or have all those plans gone up in smoke and we’re going to get another New 52 reboot as the social media is crying about? Don’t screw this up DC, I sat quietly through Marvel’s Heroes Reborn and the New 52. I haven’t gotten any better with age.  I give this a begrudging 7 out of 10 Grahams.

CRAZY #1     MARVEL COMICS

Much like the current Mad Magazine, this version of Crazy isn’t the Crazy of my youth. But that doesn’t mean thats a bad thing. The fine folks running this nut show have balanced the right amount of weirdness and self-mocking to the Marvel Universe. While I recognise a few gags that appeared in various incarnations of Marvel humor titles like Not Brand Ecch! and What The?! this one still had a smile on my face as I read this. I give it an 8 out of 10 Grahams.

INFERIOR 5 #2     DC COMICS

Ok, time to punt. Giffen and Lemire are off in their own little little world and I’m confused as heck. I justified reading it for the cameos in the book but the truth is I haven’t got a clue here which makes kinda want to keep reading it? I give it a 6 out of 10 Grahams.
