GIANT SIZE DEFENDERS #3     MARVEL COMICS

I always love a chance to revisit the past and thanks to Marvel, I get that chance this week. Setting the way back machine for 1975, I get a chance to catch up with Doctor Strange and the most oddball super-hero group. Gathered in the weirdest of circumstances, the Defenders featured the most unusual collection of heroes but always seemed like the way they came together was natural. Which was one of the beautiful things about this series. As well as becoming the last resort for unfinished storylines. And the gathering place for heroes galore as we see when Daredevil and Nighthawk show up. Oh, and did we mention Korvac?! I give it an 8 out of 10 Grahams.

FLASH GIANT #2     DC COMICS

More 100 page adventures featuring not only the Fastest man Alive but Green Arrow & Black Canary, who appeared as a back up in the Flash series back in the 70’s. Throw in some Blue Beetle and you’ve got a lot of good reading here! I give it an 8 out of 10 Grahams.

TRUE BELIEVERS ANNIHILATION MAN-WOLF #1     MARVEL COMICS

A blast from the past which just goes to show that in the right hands, even the most obscure characters can be given a second chance. In 1972, tragic Spider-Man villian Man-Wolf was given a whole new deal in the hands of David Craft, George Perez, and Frank Giacoia. These creative genius’s took the mindless werewolf and turned him into a space fairing warrior hero. Check out what we found original back in the day! I give it an 8 out of 10 Grahams.

RWBY #3     DC COMICS

Daughter berated me for not picking up the Manga inspired story from DC Comics. After reading it with me, she noted that Mirka Andolfo’s art is good but not an exact copy of the American web series upon which the title is based. Taking place in a school on a world where students train to be protectors against monsters, the story seems to capture the spirit and plot points of the original series. It must have something if the family’s resident Manga reader likes it. We give it a 7 out of 10 Grahams.

DRAGONFLY & DRAGONFLYMAN #2     AHOY COMICS

Tom Peyer’s story is an amazing look at the similarities and differences between characters that are basicly the same. The differences in the Dragonflys of Earth Alpha and Omega seems to be shrinking as the story continues. Ahoy Comics deserves cudos for giving Peyer and artist Peter Krause a forum to spotlight this tale. Definately worth hunting down. I give it an 8 out of 10 Grahams.
