My First Comic Book
by Sean Connor
Hey, Sean here! I’ve loved comics ever since I was a kid. They’ve always captured my imagination, and no wonder! Who doesn’t love a good hero story; I certainly do. But how did I get into comics?
If you couldn’t tell by the image above, the first comic I laid hands on was Green Lantern #1, the first issue of writer Geoff Johns’ iconic run on the series. After reading that, I was hopelessly hooked. The idea of a regular guy finding a crashed alien ship, only to be bequeathed the most powerful weapon in the universe by its dying wielder? Sign me up!
Green Lantern was instantly a favorite. The fact that his power was fueled by his faultless Willpower and limited only by his imagination resonated strongly with me, an inspiration. What struck me as especially unique was that there wasn’t only a single Green Lantern, but an entire Corps of them! A space-faring police force bringing the light of justice to every sector in the universe.
So that’s my first experience with comics, and I continue to be an avid Lantern fan to this day. I encourage everyone to explore comics and discover the rich and vibrant stories that await them. And who knows? Maybe you’ll find a new passion and a favorite character too.
