CINDERELLA ANNUAL BLOODY XMAS #1     ZENESCOPE

With the chaotic world we have been living in for the past year and a half, it’s easy for the casual reader to miss a few comics of interest. Even a comic reviewer can miss something worthwhile. So when it was brought to my attention that this book was something I should have read, I reluctantly decided to take a look. Now as you may know, when Zenescope first started their Grimm’s Fairy Tales title (way back in the day) I was totally onboard. Stunning artwork, vibrant colors, and somewhat disturbing and gory interpretations of classic fairy tales made each issue a masterpiece. As time past and an ongoing storyline evolved and countless spin-off titles arose, I drifted away. But those recommendations for this Annual were spot on. From Manual Preitano’s first page of art which could have been lifted directly from the 1966 animated Grinch Who Stole Christmas to Eduardo Garcia’s art directly inspired Charles Schultz art, this a wonderfully entertaining story with the ending promise that there would be ongoing yearly battles between Cinderella and the Krampus makes for a great read!
