THE DEFENDERS #1     MARVEL COMICS

Al Ewing and Javier Rodriguez take their turn at the eternal anti-group, the Defenders. There is very little that is new here. A new threat brought to light by a surprize visitor to the home of Doctor Strange. The Tarot of the Secret Flame from the pages of previous Defenfers title, The Secret Defenders. Unwilling random heroes who must band together no matter what happens. With the idea that the cure to the problem maybe worse than the problem itself. Been there, done that at least half a dozen times but like all good Defenders titles, it’s still a whole lot of fun. Strange knows what he’s doing is not going to go well but he does it anyway. Madcap, end of time as we know it situations are on order and it all a great bit of fun. I give it a 7 out of 10 Grahams.

BETTIE PAGE THE CURSE OF THE BANSHEE #3     DYNAMITE ENTERTAINMENT

Writer Stephen Mooney sure can mix and match his genres. Part mythology, part good girl pin up art, part zombie movie, he manages to mingle them well. And I feel a bit bad for interior artist Jethro Morales. His art is just fine but when it is surrounded by cover art from Joseph Michael Linser and Marat Mychaels, it’s hard not to compare. Another really well done series starring the amazing Bettie Page. I give it a 7 out of 10 Grahams.
