Does any comic book character really die or is it just another way a writer chooses to craft a story in today’s modern comics.

Case in point, the most recent big Marvel Comics death event. THE DEATH OF DOCTOR STRANGE. This five part mini-series and it’s array of series connected one shots seems to tell the tale of the Death of Doctor Strange, one of Marvel Comics B-Level superheroes who has been bumped up in superhero status thanks to MCU movies.

The only comic book character that really remains dead seems to be 1970’s Captain Marvel. Everyone else comes back; Superman, Green Arrow, Robin, Captain America, Wolverine, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Professor X. (In fact nearly every X Mutant has died and come back and this was before the Krakoan Rebirthing Pods were created in the pages of Jon Hickman’s New World X-Men.)

Comic book stories, movies and television are constantly telling these tales. There was an episode of Star Trek Voyager that started with the startling death of Ensign Harry Kim- one of the core-7 leads of the show. The starship Voyager then runs into a time anomaly and discovers a different version of the starship Voyager. Our Voyager ship is saved from destruction thanks to the help of the other ship’s Harry Kim. The second version of Voyager is later destroyed leaving their Harry Kim aboard our vessel. Weirdly it is never mentioned again that Harry Kim died and this is a different Harry Kim now serving on the wrong ship.

Even within the pages of the first issue there are prime examples of this. Here is Doctor Strange conversing with his talking dog, Bats who is back from the dead thanks to Donny Cates storytelling from a few years ago that turned old Bats into some sort of astral projection ghost version of himself. The first issue is filled with many more surprises.

How to bring Doctor Strange back? There is the reason to pick up the next four issues! The first issue is out and was practically SOLD OUT in one week throughout the Graham Crackers Comics chain. The second issue ships soon and with it Marvel Comics is going back to press and releasing a second printing of the instant sellout Number One issue.
