JUSTICE LEAGUE INCARNATE #1     DC COMICS

Now everybody knows that I am a sucker for a good Multiverse story from DC. But at this point, we have to ask ourselves the same question writer Len Wein asked after the 3 part Seven Soldiers crossover in the now legendary JLA #100-102, “How are we gonna top this next year?!” Unfortunately, in these modern times, that mentality is greater than ever and this title suffers from it as well. The evil is greater than ever, the collection of multiversal heroes is greater, and you are going to need a scorecard to keep track. (Note: I am a bit biased as I really am not a fan of the realistic Captain Carrot nor Flashpoint Batman.) If you have been keeping up with all the previous multiversal titles this probably seems like the next step. If not, writers Joshua Williamson and Dennis Culver try to keep it simple but they are simply dealing with plot elements that are off the deep end. This is a perfect example of what happens when trying to top the last story goes too far. We should take a note from Len Wein’s book. After his epic 3 parter, he switched gears and wrote a wonderful short 1 parter for JLA #113 the following year. I give this one a 7 out of 10 Grahams.

AND ONE FROM THE DAY LATE CATAGORY …

TURKEY DAY #1     SOURCE POINT PRESS

This one showed up a day late for an official Thanksgiving Day review but it’s one of those weirdies that I just can’t let pass by. The creative team of David C. Hayes, Brian Dunphy, and Dan Gorman have an obvious love of B-movies and managed to convince the good folks at Source Point Press to grant them a wonderful little one-shot to indulge. Think Plan 9 From Outer Space meets Thankskilling 1, 2, and 3! When aliens crash land in Pilgrim Point, Illinois (No such town, I Google Maped it because how cool would it have been if there was such a place!) they take control of the local Turkey population, develop a taste for human meat, think we are idiots, and basically take over the world! Featuring the alien leader who is amazed at humanity’s stupidity, local law enforcement who refuse to grasp the crisis facing their town, the school history teacher and hero who along with his girlfriend try to warn the unbelieving townsfolk about the danger they face! A great little book that definately has movie potential. I give this one a 9 out of 10 Grahams.
