THE FLASH #777 DC COMICS
And just like that, the inventive originality of Jeremy Adams storytelling is brought back to the hum-drum world. No more upside down panals, no more talking to the reader, just another episode of Justice League Dark guest starring the Flash. Eclipso is back but isn’t seen. Wally spends a good portion of the story wanting to get off Gemworld and back home after dispatching a giant worm Tremors style. And ***SPOILER ALERT*** the cliffhangar has everyone but Wally possessed by Eclipso. Normally, I woundn’t even bother with a spoiler alert as this is what Ecpliso does. What bothers me is this new deal with Eclipso. What happened to the dark 1/2 face thing that shows you’re possed by Eclipso? And didn’t you have to give in to the darker emotions to get possessed? All I see is a bunch of magic user with glowing eyes being confused and not knowing any better than to whip up a spell of two to protect themselves. None of the JLDark could pick up a copy of DC Comics Prresents Eclipso collected volume and do a little backround check? The good news is that Fernando Pasarin and Matt Ryan’s art is still wonderful. You had me, then you lost me. I give this one a 5 out of 10 Grahams.
DETECTIVE COMICS #1046 DC COMICS
Fear State is over. Gotham is building a new Arkham in tower form (who doesn’t see that a skyscraper full of Batman Universe looneys is a really, really bad idea?!) Batman is doing the big goodbye tour of his home town. Secondary characters (including Batman movie girlfriend Chase Meridian!) The worst is over and yet the worst is yet to come. The question really becomes will DC turn over it’s long running Detective title to someone other than Batman? Sets up a few future plot points but little else. I give it a 5 out of 10 Grahams.
