GREEN LANTERN #3     DC COMICS

Just based on the cameos alone this book should have been earning an 8 or a 9. Grant Morrison ability to weave obscure characters into his stories is still in full swing. And Liam Sharp’s art manages to channel the old Plop! comic and famed artist Basil Wolverton. But I have two major issues with this story. While the extensive menagerie of cosmic despots is amazing, most of them have had dealings with the planet earth and would want no part of the bidding. Second, is Hal Jordan’s actions at the end of the book. No spoilers but this is definitely not the Hal Jordan of my youth. I give it a low 7 out of 10 Grahams.

LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN TEMPEST #3     TOP SHELF

The overwhelming secret of the history of the League is out and nobody’s happy. While we are given the big reveal here, it is almost over-shadowed by all the good fun that Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill are having here. I especially like the appearance of Jerry Cornelius. But it can’t go without saying that the variety of art styles from comic strips to crazed 3-D. This has something for everyone! The pace has definitely picked up on this title! I give it a 10 out of 10 Grahams.
