GRIMM FAIRY TALES 2019 SWIMSUIT SPECIAL ZENESCOPE PUBLISHING
I swear I’m only reading this for the articles! Ha! This year’s swimsuit special features a short tale featuring the smallest damsel of them all, Thumbelina. The story is short and a bit confusing but does act as the introduction of a new storyline. But the obvious reason for picking up this book is the AMAZING pin-up/cheesecake art. With a unlimited selection of characters, locations, and artists and colorists, all of who do a spectacular job! I give it an 8 out of 10 Grahams.
BETTIE PAGE UNBOUND #2 DYNAMITE ENTERTAINMENT
With an unbelievable Crisis inspired cover, Bettie’s Unbound series really manages to keep in the spirit of the multiple universes. David Avallone’s Vampirella homage has it’s roots in the Warren Magazine version of the 1970s/80s. And Julius Ohta’s art is definitely channeling Trina Robbins and José González. Only this time, Ellie Wright’s color embellish the black and white sketch work. And in moving forward, after surviving this issues challenges, we’ll take a wander into the universe of the Princess of Mars! Definitely, a title worth looking into. I give it a 9 out of 10 Grahams.
UNEARTH #1 IMAGE COMICS
As far as storylines go, there’s not a lot of new ground being covered here. The disease is ugly but not gut churning. The real star of this title appears to be the character development that Cullen Bunn and Kyle Strahm are developing here. While not going into great detail, we know that all of our main characters are suffering from big time emotional baggage. Some more so than others. And now that they are trapped under the earth with … something, those problems are going to start coming out. For sci-fi fans, you have a well worn tale of infection and possible alien influence(?). For readers of good psychological fiction, this is the place for you. I give it a 7 out of 10 Grahams.
