HISTORY OF THE MARVEL UNIVERSE #1     MARVEL COMICS

Wow! Ok. This one actually gave me a headache! I give Marvel credit for trying to retell the history from day one and the reasoning for it is truly unique. The problem here is that the creative team is having to cram hundreds of thousands of years into this issue. From the Big Bang to the old west, a mind numbing array of names, faces, events come at you unrelentingly. Hopefully, the pace will slow down so that my brain can process the information. I give it 7 out of 10 Grahams.

SCOOBY DOO TEAM UP #49     DC COMICS

Forty Nine issues in and we are still going strong. Fisch, Brizuela, and Riesco really now their DC Universe. Joining Scooby-Doo and the gang are the entire Metamorpho family and it’s like I’m back in the late 60’s reading Metamorpho’s own title. I’ve heard rumor that DC is planning on cancelling this title. I hope it is only a rumor. I give it a 10 out of 10 Grahams.

FREEDOM FIGHTERS #7     DC COMICS

Just over 1/2 way through the mini-series and I don’t see how they can possibly end it after 12 issues. Venditti’s story is definately what old school fans can accept as a updated version of the team. I was especially impressed with the interaction between the Human Bomb and Hitler the Third. It also shows off how truly powerful the Human Bomb is. A great story continues. I give it an 8 out of 10 Grahams.

MARVELS EPILOGUE     MARVEL COMICS

I can’t help but feel a little sad reading these new page. The saga of Phil Sheldon has indeed come to a close. The years have taught him a lot. And now that he’s surrounded by family, his survival instinct is over-riding his sence of wonder. Luckily, his children have inherited it. But even remembering his awe inspiring life, he knows that his life has come to that point when the adventure is done. Meanwhile, in the backrounds, its jaw-dropping out of uniform X-men done by Alex Ross. Simply magnificent! I give it a 9 out of 10 Grahams.

DIAL H FOR HERO #5     DC COMICS

Humphies has gotten it right on so many levels as he reveals the truth of the Heroverse! With Mister Thunderbolt whole again, Miguel and the Operator take a trip through the Heroverse and man is it right on the money. Flashing back to several key moments in DC’s past with the original images, this is a amazingly creative trip down memory lane. Did I mention the return of the Super Mobile?! This title just keeps getting better and better. I give it a 10 out of 10 Grahams.
