BATMAN PENNYWORTH RIP #1 DC COMICS
Wow! I hadn’t planned on reviewing this as it seemed like a part of a pointless tie in on the part of DC. But the truth is that I was almost immediatelt drawn in by Tynion IV and Tomasi’s story. This is a gut wrenching look at the Batman “family”! The loss of Alfred is by far the worse thing that could happen and this is a fascinating look at the reasons why. The crushing reality of this loss is broken up by short snippets of what Alfred meant to each member of the immediate Bat-Family. But they only enforce the problems facing Bruce Wayne with his trusted friend gone. This one really hammers home what Alfred really was to everyone. Expect to get mad and then tear up by the time this one-shot is over. I give it a 9 out of 10 Grahams.
POWERS IN ACTION #4 ACTION LAB COMICS
Really! You’re leaving us with a cliffhangar with a character from the future stopping the friends of Suplex from acting? Art Baltazar’s 4th issue brings back wonderful memories of the types of stories we were reading in our youth! Definately the start of a super new epic storyline for the next storyline! I give it a 9 out of 10 Grahams.
VAMPIRELLA #3 DYNAMITE PUBLISHING
Holy Flashbacks, Loyal Readers! Jump back to 1969 and the amazing world of Warren’s line of black and white horror magazines! With such legendary creators as Don Glut, Nicola Cuti, Tom Sutton, and Forrest J Ackeman featured its hard not to love this. Sometimes horrifing, sometimes weird, and sometimes unbelievable, the stories here remind us of the of a time when full size door posters and 8mm films were available with loose change and a self addressed envelope. Definitely worth the trip down memory lane. I give it an 8 out of 10 Grahams.
