FLASH #797 DC COMICS
Finally, the One-Second War storyline is finished and we can move on. And writer Jeremy Adams gives us a nice little interlude to cleanse our pallets. A little playtime in the multiverse and a new group of Super-Villains steals the show here. Even a guest appearance by the Super Sons can’t take away from the likes of Mineral Man and Reverse Grodd. Even the fact that the story calls for them to do very little, they are too good to pass up! And with the ending dropping (literally!) a huge future plot point, this one is not to be missed! 8 out of 10 Grahams.
PLAN 59 FROM OUTER SPACE #1 DREN PRODUCTIONS
From the people who bring us Flesh Eating Cheerleaders From Outer Space, Dren doubles down on the B-movie VHS genre with this little gem. Everyone remembers Ed Wood Jr.s’ Plan 9 From Outer Space movie but writers Michael Dolce and James Mascia go to the extreme by showing off some of the other failed numbered plans and bring us into the current day where colorist Daniele Caramanico switches over page colors from black and white to color. Joaquin Gonzalez’s art looks spectacular in both! And sporting a cover by C.B. Zane, this title covers all the angles. And honestly, the aliens may have come up with a real plan this time around. Unless, of course, you just happened to drop your phone and break it. But by far, the recalling of some of the other failed numbers and the reasons why they failed was absolutely spot on. Looking forward to seeing what comes next. Ed Wood Jr. would be proud. 9 out of 10 Grahams.
