DARK NIGHTS METAL #3     DC COMICS

More depressing storyline. More philosophical debates. More despair. The dark road this story is following is truly a bummer. The only highlight to this latest chapter id the guest appearance of Nightmaster and Detective Chimp. At this point, I ready to chuck this universe and start over somewhere else. If I wanted to be depressed I could be watching the news. I give it a 4 out of 10 Grahams.

GOTHAM CITY GARAGE #1     DC COMICS

Again, DC drops us into a bleak universe with very little going for it. And while this visit to Mad Max universe does show off a little gleam of  hope in the overall storyline, it’s not smile generating. And most depressing of all, Brian Ching’s art is a good match for the story but not for what the story is based on. The series is based on DC’s collectable statues to portrait the heroines of the DC universe as sexy motorcycle riding biker gang members. Sorry fellas no cheesecake panels here. I give it a 5 out of 10 Grahams.

FIGHTING AMERICAN #1     TITAN COMICS

While not my favorite Simon & Kirby heroes, the folks down at Titan have really hit the ground running. First off, they literally start the storyline where the original story left off! Chasing the villians into the future, allows for a bit of the cliché humor of the man out of time. But writer Gordon Rennie uses it to enhance the story and also demonstrates he understands the flow of time. And the panel of the two heroes left out in the rain homeless is tragic. Definitely a fun ride. I give it a 8 out of 10 Grahams.
