INCREDIBLES 2 #2     DARK HORSE COMICS

3 Tales of Titanic Fun for All Ages. But the third take featuring Jack Jack is of course the scene stealer. If you though Ant Man was great wait until you see what happens when Jack Jack goes micro. Elsewhere, Can Mr. Incredible be any more annoying in his training with Violet and Dash? Can the kids handle tales of their parents’ romance (or will they hurl?)All these tales are yours in issue #2. I give it a 7 out of 10 Grahams.

THE GIRL WHO DANCED WITH DEATH #1     TITAN COMICS

Wow! I read this one from cover to cover, then sat back and took a few deep breaths. Stieg Larsson is no stranger to the plots and themes developing here. And one could say that Stieg is a master at them. What I found most disturbing was that I was reading a comic. Only this wasn’t a comic. It was a fictional look at the real world that not only disturbed me but actually made my stomach knot up. Lisbeth and Mikael are wonderfully likable characters but what they are up against hits too close to home. And while this title is written and drawn in a certain movie style and pacing, it would never be made as it is in this form. As I am sure 1/3 of it would be left on the cutting room floor for being too controversial. If you like looking into the reality of life hoping not to blink, then this one is for you. Any book that evokes this kind of emotional response from me deserves to get the high score. 10 out of 10 Grahams.

WALT DISNEY SHOWCASE #6     IDW COMICS

One of my favorite Disney villains takes the spotlight as the Phantom Blot is back and an evil as ever! And I’m excited that the Phantom Blot has been given a cast of characters of his very own. Back in the 70’s, the mysterious Blot would show up from time to time to aggravate Mickey and Goofy. Thanks to the continued interest in Italy, the Phantom Blot developed more and graduated to a more first tier character. The only real problem I have is when the Blot unmasks. My poor childhood memory seems to tell me that back then, we never knew who the Phantom Blot was. That was part of the mystery. Oh well. I give it an 8 out of 10 Grahams.
